When most people think of Xbox as a brand, one name and face always seems to come to mind, and that is Phil Spencer. Being the Head of Xbox and being an integral part of the Xbox Series X/S production and promotion, Phil Spencer is one of the most recognizable faces within the industry. Although, now he’s done something that is sure to turn plenty of heads.

During the 2021 New York Game Awards, Spencer partnered with the New York Video Game Critics Circle non-profit by signing a brand new Xbox Series X console and putting it up for auction. All proceeds go directly towards the New York Video Game Critics Circle non-profit. The bidding closes in early February, but the price of the console has climbed quite high.
It has only been on eBay for less than a day and the price has already risen to 2700 dollars, putting it over five times the cost of a normal console unit. It’s always nice when organizations do something like this to support a good cause. For instance, last year, a mental health charity auctioned off a customized Nintendo Switch in support of a good cause.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Xbox Series X moving forward. Right now, it’s impossible to tell when exactly the high demand for the system will start to die down, but going into 2021, there’s a lot for fans to be excited about. Halo Infinite will release at some point this year, The Medium releases tomorrow, and given Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, there’s sure to be a lot of related news for a number of upcoming games.
